Toronto based designer, Ian Brignell, has been branding companies for years. Looking through
his portfolio, I didn’t realize that one man was behind so many recognizable logos and brands.
Some of his big clients include, Burger King, Smirnoff, Hershey’s, Wisk, Hellman’s, Duracell
and so many more. Preview is work below and be sure to read his interview from
The Case and Point.

Nike – 40 Years of The Swoosh

This marks the 40th year since the now famous Nike Swoosh logo was created by
Carolyn Davidson back in 1971. Carolyn, only a college student at Portland State University
at the time, was paid just $35 for her logo design. After the success of the company, founder
Phil Knight presented Carolyn with a diamond Swoosh ring and Nike stock to show his
appreciation for the iconic logo. Knight reportedly gave 500 shares to Davidson back in 1983,
and she still has not sold the shares which are worth close to $1 million today. Learn the full
story at OregonLive, where Davidson’s life was forever changed after designing “The Swoosh.”

Kendrick Lamar featuring RZA – Ronald Reagan Era

“Ronald Reagan Era”, will appear on Kendrick’s Section.80 album, which is due out July
2nd. The Compton MC has been working closely with Dr. Dre on this album, I think it’s
likely to be one of the best of the summer, if not year. Check the track.

rudytees – CITY SERIES

So I ‘m excited to finally introduce the upcoming rudytees brand project titled, CITY SERIES.
A vision that I have had for a while now, brings together my love of traveling and the people/
culture that represent each city. Each shirt will consist of a collage print, compiled of different
textures found in particular cities I have traveled too, along with the name to accompany
the image.
The basic concept behind this series of shirts is the idea of how a city is actually viewed and
represented. While many people see a city for the classic silhouettes and iconic or historic
buildings, I view a city for the people that live in it. Each shirt will have a photo of different
cities including New York, Paris, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, depicting the people of that
particular city. Then using textures of sidewalks, concrete, trees, water, buildings, wood and
other elements, the textures will be collaged together to represent the photo.
It’s a very loose and abstract idea, but I have already started the shirt for New York, and I must
say I’m pretty excited. So take a look at what I have started so far. Enjoy.

Nintendo's New Console: Wii U
Nintendo unveiled it’s newest console today the Wii U, at the E3 Gaming Expo in Los Angeles.
Wii U shocked me, I wasn’t expecting to write anything about a Nintendo console any time
soon but this gaming system deserves some serious credit. The controllers buttons are
surrounded by a 6.2 inch touch screen that can be used as either a second screen for the
television or an entirely different perspective for in-game play. Buttons include: dual analog
sticks, d-pad, a front facing camera as well as four shoulder buttons. Another great feature
is that Wii U has backward compatibility. This means that original Wii games as well as Wii
accessories (like Wii Fit) can be used on the new console. To learn about the Wii U’s other
innovative features check out the video below and/or visit Gizmodo.
