Nintendo unveiled it’s newest console today the Wii U, at the E3 Gaming Expo in Los Angeles.
Wii U shocked me, I wasn’t expecting to write anything about a Nintendo console any time
soon but this gaming system deserves some serious credit. The controllers buttons are
surrounded by a 6.2 inch touch screen that can be used as either a second screen for the
television or an entirely different perspective for in-game play. Buttons include: dual analog
sticks, d-pad, a front facing camera as well as four shoulder buttons. Another great feature
is that Wii U has backward compatibility. This means that original Wii games as well as Wii
accessories (like Wii Fit) can be used on the new console. To learn about the Wii U’s other
innovative features check out the video below and/or visit Gizmodo.

I have been meaning to post this for a while ever since I saw the rebrand of Comedy Central.
Designed by thelab in NYC, Comedy Central completely changed their logo, which is meant to
play off the copyright symbol. The typefaces used in their commercials are Brandon
Grotesque
and the light font is Eames Century Modern. They work great together as they
create an obvious contrast. Check out the stills and video below, and see what I mean.

One thing Apple loves doing is updating their products, and yet again here in early 2011 they’re
back at it again. The three 13 inch, 15 inch, and 17 inch models all include new graphics,
software, speed, and storage. All new models feature Thunderbolt technology which is a unified
successor to USB, FireWire, and DisplayPort, allowing peripherals to hypothetically carry data
and video at 10Gbps. The 13 inch model comes with new graphics from Intel’s new processor
titled, Sandy Bridge, while the larger models are switched to an AMD graphics card. All models
feature a new FaceTime graphics card and start at a minimum of 4GB of RAM. Also the lowest
model, the 13 inch, receives a hard-drive boost from 250GB to 320GB.

Holophonic Sound (3D Sound) uses “multiple exposure” which is the same method used to create holograms.  Below is a holophonic recording of a match being struck, the sound is so convincing that people have actually claimed  to have smelled sulphur while listening. You’re going to definitely want to use headphones when listening to this as the sound seems to be projected and spread around in all different directions.

Merry Christmas

Let me say this first, Dell computers are terrible, and I feel bad for anyone that has one as you most likely have had some kind of problem. Otherwise, their new Dell Duo is actually pretty cool. It’s a rather small PC, but offers a cool swivel to convert to a tablet. Sick design, well see how it works though.
